Florida
Florida became the 23rd state, on March 3, 1845, located in the southeastern United States. Florida's economy relies heavily on tourism. Warm weather and hundreds of miles of beach attract vacationers from around the world.
The age of consent is 18, and the age of sexual consent is 16 for adults who are under 24 years of age, or if the adult that is 24 years of age or older is married to the minor. Florida does not recognize Out Of State Same-Sex Marriage.
Same-sex sexual activity remained illegal in Florida until 2003, when the United States Supreme Court struck down all state sodomy laws with Lawrence v. Texas. As of mid-2011, the state's sodomy law, though unenforceable, had not been repealed by Florida legislators.
