New Jersey

New Jersey is a state in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern regions of the United States. The state is named after the island of Jersey in the English Channel. Parts of New Jersey lie within the metropolitan areas of New York, Philadelphia, and the Delaware Valley.

Age of consent is 16, with no sodomy laws.

Same-sex marriage in New Jersey has been legally recognized since October 21, 2013, the effective date of a trial court ruling invalidating the state's restriction of marriage to persons of different sexes.
