Washington is located in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. The state is named after George Washington, the first President of the United States. It should not be confused with Washington, D.C., the nation's capital city.

The age of consent is 16. Washington State has no sodomy laws.

Same-sex marriage in Washington state has been legal since December 6, 2012.
