Las Vegas, NV — Welcome back to the roller coaster ride. Today I'm going to cover the progress I've covered over the last six months.
I've completely redesigned the database using modern technology and Yii2, a PHP framework that's a decade newer than the old framework.
As one friend said: "All you're doing is moving the information from one large bucket to several small buckets." He's right in a very simplistic way.
I written a PHP app that takes a big bucket record and using a wizard style of screens to verify each field and move the data into the appropriate small bucket.
I've written a 2nd PHP app that takes a record from the smaller buckets and creates a formatted version of the data and thoughtfully puts it into the cut/paste buffer so that I can put it into my Coda2, my HTML editor (having it be put there directly requires more coding effort).
The minimum needed to actually do the production. A bit awkward at points, but already much faster with better vetting than the previous version.
No news teasers this week in case I need extra time.
I eating my own dogfood, which means using the code in the production environment. I'm working ahead as much as I can so that I can test against a few dozen different reviews this week.
I'm working forward from about 12/21/16 until I catch up, then I'll start working backwards to move the older reviews over to the new database.
Enjoy!
