Two Steps Forward, One Back

By Daddy

Las Vegas — The backup software for the new computer is installed and working well enough to complain about the old drive being read-only. Turns out the OS can read a mac formatted drive (HFS Plus) but can't write to it. I have a spare drive of equal size so I'll be formatting it to something more acceptable (ext4) and doing the initial backup. This will probably take a while to complete. After that it'll be much faster because of rsync technology being used.

Thanksgiving will be at the Black Bear Diner restaurant because a friend and I don't feel like cooking this year. BB tends to serve good food at reasonable prices. That'll mean that we won't have reviews/news on Friday.

I have just enough to cover November rent and the computer hosting fees but would like to get a bigger drive for the new backup appliance. Any help is appreciated. Here's a link to the How to Donate Page

Russia — Maksim Pankratov, 21, could face a sentence of up to 20 years in prison simply for having chatted with the kids about his daily experience living in the deeply anti-gay nation. The questions had nothing to do with sex or physical contact, media sources noted; as Pankratov put it, "It was a normal conversation about my life and they want to put me in jail," (More)
