A Most Particular Situation

Las Vegas — For the 3rd time in the history of the United States, a President has been impeached (Nixon doesn't count because he resigned before proceedings began.) But then came a strange twist. According to Representative James E. Clyburn: "Until we can get some assurances from the majority leader that he is going to allow for a fair and impartial and trial to take place, we would be crazy to walk in there knowing he has set up a kangaroo court" which shows that he doesn't understand the process, is grandstanding, or he's bitch slapping the Chief Justice.

The House conducted the equivalence of a indictment. The Senate will try the case with Chief Justice John Roberts presiding over the proceedings. While conservative I suspect that he won't put up with the shenanigans that happened in the house testimonies. With the Christmas break looming, that won't happen until next year.

The fly in the ointment is that any senator can move to dismiss the charges and all it takes is a simple majority. Considering that Republicans have a 6 vote advantage this is likely to happen. The question becomes has the President alienated enough senators with his antics to turn the tide. Most likely not.

I've been able to free up a 2 terabyte USB drive and I plan to install it on the "Backup Appliance" this weekend. Moving the about 70 gigabytes from the existing drive will be an excellent test of the appliance to handle a workout.
