Which Way Will the Tree Fall?

By Daddy

Las Vegas — Last week Nancy Pelosi announced that the impeachment would be delivered this week and the timing has some interesting impacts on Congress.

The 117th Session of Congress began on the 3rd of January. The Senate is currently on recess and is next due to reconvene on the 19th of January with the the current 48/50 split.

Once Georgia certifies its runoff election which can happen anytime up to the 22nd. At that point the new Georgia Senators can take the oath of office which will make the Senate a 50/50 split.

I suspect that the impeachment will be delivered on Wednesday or later to avoid interfering with the inauguration. As I said last Friday conviction requires a 2/3 majority which would require seventeen Senators to cross the political aisle.

The question becomes: "How many Senators has Trump pissed off?" I predict that CSPAN will once again be the most popular cable channel on that day.

I splurged last week and bought a family tray of chicken wings. I've been enjoying them this past weekend. The tip of the wings have been removed and I'm turned them into chicken stock with a few vegetables from the store and the skin from a half dozen chicken thighs from the freezer that'll ended up in the soup.

This is a easy method to rotate through the older frozen chicken that I keep in the freezer. I pack thighs into ziplock freezer bag and put the date on the outside. They can stay in there from 6 months to a year however I rotate any bags that are approaching the six month mark. I'll be using my new heat sealer for the next batch going into the freezer.

The smell is intoxicating, the stock is a rich golden color, and the taste is intense. The soup turned out to be spectacular and I had two large bowls of it yesterday. I have some shrimp that I got on sale to slip in tomorrow.

Please Be Safe, Be Sane, Be Healthy! Things will be better in just a few days.

To all those that have donated, Thank you! January is a bit tight but I have a good start on it. Any help is appreciated. Here's a link to the How to Donate Page

Marijuana May Help Prevent COVID-Related Respiratory Distress

By Mey Rude

Alberta — Researchers at the University of Lethbridge in Alberta, Canada, have discovered that certain cannabis strains might offer some help in preventing acute respiratory distress in patients who have COVID-19. Acute respiratory distress happens when the virus overloads a person's immune system to the point where the body attacks itself and the patient needs to be placed on a ventilator. The new study shows that certain strains of marijuana might slow that process down or even stop it. (More)
