109° Today in Las Vegas...

By Daddy

Las Vegas — So I stayed in bed throughout the day as it got up to 109°. I'll hold off until late this evening to go to the store. The store will be open until 11pm and I expect the temperatures to be down to the nineties by then. The expected low is 83° but I don't do 6AM.

One hundred and eight days to the election! Remember in 2016 when everybody was so absolutely sure that Hillary Clinton was going to win? Her campaign slack offed in the last couple of weeks and Trump slipped by her. We can't afford to have that happen again!

You can't participate if you're not registered before hand. Check Vote.org to see what your registration deadline is and mark it on your calendar. In a lot of jurisdictions you can do it online. Don't assume everything is OK, check it out now while you have time.

I'm rearranging a couple of my computers this weekend. New version of Mac OS Catalina, new version of Xcode development environment, and kicking the tires on a new language Swift. Catalina switches display access to the Metal API for accessing modern graphic cards. Lots of new distracting toys so this weekend may turn into a three day computer nerd fest.

The Flirt4free commission is going to be much lower that usual, so it's one of those months to watch every penny. To all those that have donated, Thank you! Any help is appreciated. Here's a link to the How to Donate Page which has been updated with the new address.

Hospitals Ordered to Send COVID-19 Data to White House and Not CDC, Sparking Fears of Cover-Up

By Andy Towle

Washington — The NYT reports: “The new instructions were posted recently in a little-noticed document on the Department of Health and Human Services website. From now on, the department — not the C.D.C. — will collect daily reports about the patients that each hospital is treating, the number of available beds and ventilators, and other information vital to tracking the pandemic. … News of the change came as a shock at the C.D.C., according to two officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter.” (More)
