The New Herd Mentality
By Daddy
Las Vegas — When I went to pickup the package from my mailbox, I saw the new herd mentality at work. The grocery store's customer service booth is the next booth over from the mailbox booth. They had one of those blue "Please Wait Here" signs on the floor at the "start" of their lane. The line overflowed the customer service line, snaked past the mailbox booth, around the corner past the ice machine, and pert'near out the front door. Each person a "safe" six feet from the next, except most of them didn't know what six feet was and over estimated.
I said: "Excuse me, but I need to get to my mailbox!" and pushed right up to the counter. The man next to me grumbled something nasty under his breath so I looked at him and said: "You're suppose to be six feet away from him" pointing to the mailbox attendant/owner. The line then calmly moved to the right to give us the six foot clearance. Which of course blocked the shoppers exiting the store.
I'm pretty sure that the store will put down more of those bright blue stickers but of course that'll block the mailbox which is open until 1pm under it's new limited hours. The solution of course will be two lanes (perhaps with another bright color?) Which will then probably necessitate that they have a third lane for the outbound people. I can envision Smiths installing electronic overhead signs to control traffic as needed.
Then there is the matter of lanes for the bank, and for the pharmacy. [Sigh!] Hopefully we're at the top of the Coronavirus curve and it'll settle down by the end of April. Until then, be sure to enjoy the humor the situation!
Coasting until the end of the month and the rent for April is paid; To all those that have donated, Thank you! Any help is appreciated. Here's a link to the How to Donate Page

By Dan Clarendon
