Las Vegas — The electoral college was put in place to allow the system to react to unexpected events. In 1872 Horace Greeley died before the electoral college could meet. As a result the electors had to rearrange their votes to take this into account.
My only problem is that with the exception of two states Nebraska and Maine, all the states allocate the electors in a "Winner Takes All" result. In a system where the major two parties are just about evenly matched that creates a situation where the results doesn't always reflect the popular vote.
I feel that if all the states followed Nebraska and Maine's example the results would reflect the will of the people much more closely that what happens now.
We're thirteen days from election. Your vote is important no matter what antics anybody does. If you're in one of those states that mailed you a ballot to fill it out, do so, put it in its envelope, and sign the certification on the outside. Then take it to your polling place. You don't need to trust USPS to get it that last mile.
I have a follow up visit for the CROW boot tomorrow. My only complaint is that it's tall enough that it interferes with my knee. When I go for my follow up, I'll see if they can take an inch off the top.
