Coverboy The Supreme Court Bench
Amy Coney Barrett Is Now a Supreme Court Justice...
By Daddy
Las Vegas — and we just have to deal with it. These howls we hear at the other end of the block that's she a Catholic is just noise. A quick review of Google will point out that she will be the sixth Catholic Justice on the bench with the other three justices being Jewish. Likewise the noise about having seven children is that, noise. Along with the suggestion that she's racist (two of here children are black.)
The only thing that strikes me as problematic, is that she's an ultra-conservative that believes: "Judges must apply the law as written. Judges are not policy makers”"
However once a Justice is sworn in political considerations drop away because as the constitution says: "Shall hold their offices during good Behavior" which pretty much means for life. While a Supreme Court Justice can be impeached; the same process we just saw with the President is followed. In other words, highly unlikely.
Some people are worried that the Supreme Court will start overturning previous decisions. They don't tend to do that. In fact they only do so less than 2% of the time. That’s because of their bedrock legal principle of "stare decisis", Latin for “to stand on the decision.” When they do so it's mostly to add freedoms not to subtract them.
The best thing we can do is wait and watch what happens over the next few years. See where the new balance leads us, trust that the system in place will still serve us. It may be slower but we'll still get there in the end.
Health wise things are settling down. I should have my diabetic shoes in another week or so. They won't replace the CROW boot when I go out, however the shoes will be handy to wear in the apartment.
As is usual as we head into the holidays, money gets tight however October appears to be taken care of. To all those that have donated, Thank you for your donations!. Any help is appreciated. Here's a link to the How to Donate Page
