Don't Use George Floyd for Anything Other Than Justice for George Floyd
By Daddy
Las Vegas — Reverend Al Sharpton said "Don't use George Floyd for anything other than justice for George Floyd." (MSNBC) I agree with the Reverend in regards to Derek Chauvinis who is in custody under suicide watch. Hennepin County's prosecutor has announced charges of third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter against the fired Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin. They are putting the case together and their is little doubt in my mind that he'll be convicted.
Yet this tragic death is being used as the excuse for arson, murder, looting, and vandalism. Something's wrong with the picture and the excuse is so flimsy as to be repugnant. We need to concentrate on justice not revenge. There are signs that this is starting to happen. Sixty North Carolina police officers took a knee at a confrontation (The News & Observer) on Monday showing that they too feel the pain:
“As a show of understanding the pain that is in our community and our nation regarding equality, the #FayPD took a knee to show that we also stand for justice for everyone,” the department wrote. “We are committed to listening and treating everyone with dignity and respect.”

Barack Obama Pens Essay Denouncing Violence
By Andy Towle
Cyberspace — Barack Obama pens essay denouncing violence and saying change needs to happen at the voting booth: “When we think about politics, a lot of us focus only on the presidency and the federal government. And yes, we should be fighting to make sure that we have a president, a Congress, a U.S. Justice Department, and a federal judiciary that actually recognize the ongoing, corrosive role that racism plays in our society and want to do something about it. But the elected officials who matter most in reforming police departments and the criminal justice system work at the state and local levels.“ (More)

Census 2020: Complicated for the LGBTQ Community, but It Counts
By Glenn D. Magpantay
Cyberspace — By now, everyone should have received a mailing from the US Census Bureau to get counted. I have complicated feelings about the Census.
