Five Bugs/Features Bite the Dust!

Las Vegas — I was able to take care of five bugs/features over the three day weekend. I was a little bit nervous because my entire toolchain had been updated. It was cathartic to be able to retreat into my computer and not think about the problems that I'm seeing happen around us.
Today was a "Good News"/"Bad News" type of day. I received a letter from the Nevada Division of Welfare and Supportive Services that said they had taken an action on my case. It just didn't say what the action was. So I called them and after twelve minutes of navigating a robotic phone hell, finally landed in the prober queue. Twenty something minutes I reached a human and spent about five minutes to find out that I'd need to be transferred to a "Case Worker." That queue only took about fifteen minutes. The end result was that they had extended my case by six months because of the workload that Convid19 has caused. That was the good news.
"The Bad News" was when the agency that's has been handling my wound care since the beginning called. The insurance company declined their claim for my care. The net result is that I need to start looking for a new agency that the insurance company accepts. This is causing a whole chain reaction of time consuming things that need to be done.

Democrats Unveil Police Overhaul, Kneel at Capitol

Washington D.C. — Democrats proposed a sweeping overhaul of police oversight and procedures Monday, a potentially far-reaching legislative response to the mass protests denouncing the deaths of black Americans at the hands of law enforcement.
Before unveiling the package, House and Senate Democrats held a moment of silence at the Capitol's Emancipation Hall, reading the names of George Floyd and others killed during police interactions. They knelt for 8 minutes and 46 seconds — now a symbol of police brutality and violence — the length of time prosecutors say Floyd was pinned under a white police officer's knee before he died.

FOSTA/SESTA May Be Behind Drop in Sex Trafficking Prosecutions

Los Angeles — Federal sex trafficking prosecutions dropped for the second straight year in 2019, the first time there has been two straight annual drops since the Trafficking Victims Protection Act took effect 20 years ago, according to a report by Law360. According to one expert, the 2018 FOSTA/SESTA law, which was designed to curb sex trafficking online, may be responsible for the drop by making if more difficult for law enforcement to track down traffickers.
