Still Off by a Day

By Daddy

Las Vegas — The new wound nurse showed up on Saturday to continue the "we're off by one day" and she is a ginger fire cracker which works well for me.

With 108° temperatures I didn't want to go out during the day so I worked on the Bug/Feature list and got them down to one page (about 20 items.) One item in particular sets up the new format for the next generation reviews. Much more compact and will be easier on visitors using cell phone.

There is a part of me that says: "We'll get through this" which I truly believe in. However, I'm sure getting a bad case of cabin fever. Early next week we're suppose to get a few days of 90° weather, which I can survive in outdoors. So the plan is off to the store and get a pair or two of short pants because of the weather. I starting to suspect that the washing machine eats the old ones. ;-)

Several unexpected bills are coming due at the same time in early July so I'm going to have to watch the pennies closely. Some good news is that I've gotten three different bills for the car insurance and each one has been lower than the previous one. The other surprise bill is for the email service I use. They are in Norway, and their claim to fame is the Norwegian privacy laws. They've done well for us.

To all those that have donated, Thank you! Any help is appreciated. Here's a link to the How to Donate Page which has been updated with the new address.

Barack Obama Has a Powerful Message for LGBTQ Americans

By Sam Manzella

Washington — While the Trump administration neglected to issue a Pride Month statement yet again, former President Barack Obama is making his support of the queer community loud and clear.

The 44th President of the United States teamed up with Pride Live to issue a heartfelt video message to LGBTQ Americans for Stonewall Day, the group’s third annual Pride event. Given the COVID-19 crisis, this year’s Stonewall Day is a virtual benefit for four LGBTQ advocacy groups facing financial hardships amid the pandemic. (More)

As COVID-19 Cases Surge in U.S., Rural Areas Seeing Increases as Well

By Don Babwin & Paul J. Weber (AP)

.UNITED STATES — For many states and counties in the U.S., the dark days of the coronavirus pandemic in April unfolded on their television screens, not on their doorsteps. But now, some places that appeared to have avoided the worst are seeing surges of infections, as worries shift from major cities to rural areas. (More)

Gay Dad of Child Trump Used for Racist Propaganda Speaks Out

By John Casey

Cyberspace — Donald Trump’s retweet of a doctored video of two little boys that originally showed love illustrated how twisted he is by using children as racist propaganda. It was repulsive. The clip, which Twitter initially removed and then flagged as “manipulated media,” used footage from a video that went viral last year of two toddlers — Maxwell, who is Black, and Finnegan, who is white — running down the sidewalk toward each other and then excitedly hugging. A Look at the Difference Between Full-Spectrum, Isolate and Broad-Spectrum CBD

By John Renko

Unknown — As manufacturers strive to differentiate their products, consumers are left trying to decipher terms like “broad spectrum,” “full spectrum” and “isolate.” Basically, these are defined as different levels of refinement as one extracts plant compounds from cannabis and industrial hemp. The scope of this article will be limited to these terms, but there is a whole range of additional “formats” when you walk into a dispensary selling THC products such as wax, shatter, budder, live resin, rosin, diamonds, live sugar — and the list goes on for the cannabis connoisseur. This Year, Make Pride Really Count

By Amit Singh Bagga

Cyberspace — The nationwide outcry and storming of the streets in response to the murders of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor — in addition to Dominique Rem’mie Fells, Tony McDade, and Riah Milton — are an important reminder of what Pride is all about: the fight against police brutality; the basic freedoms that should be accorded to us by virtue of being human; the strength of a collective community empowered; and, of course, visibility. Meet Kristen Griffith-VanderYacht, Host of ‘The Big Flower Fight’ on Netflix

By Dan Renzi

Netflix — Another reality-competition TV series has come to Netflix, and once again, it is surprisingly addicting and binge-worthy. The Big Flower Fight throws contestants together in a greenhouse dome, and challenges them with various tasks related to the world of gardenial design: create giant sculptures of insects, and hanging technicolor mobiles, and living gowns worn by runway models. The catch is, everything must be made out of plants, including flowers of course, but also grasses, vines, mosses, branches, and occasionally random bits of organic material that the contestants find while wandering around outside. And no, “gardenial” is not a word, but it should be. (More)
