Don't Want Police Shootings?

Las Vegas — If we don't want the police to shoot people in the back then take their guns away from them. Have them be locked away in gun safes in the trunks of their cars. "In some countries including Iceland, Ireland, New Zealand, Norway, the United Kingdom (Northern Ireland excepted), Maldives, the police do not carry firearms unless the situation is expected to merit it" — Wikipedia. In those countries fatal shootings by police are a rarity.
Nevada is an "Open Carry" state, it perfectly legal for me to strap on a holster, put my weapon in the holster, and go to the store. In fact the only time it was brought up was when a man asked: "Is that a Baby Eagle?" of which I have a fairly rare early version. It turns out he was an off duty police officer and he wanted to take a look at my baby discretely. I accommodated the officer. However, normally when you draw a handgun is when things get a little more dicey. There are three situations where I can lawfully use that weapon. First, In my self-defense; Second, To defend my property; and Third, To defend other people.
I believe that police should be judged by the same standards all other citizens are judged by. Shooting an unarmed person in the back seven times is not justifiable. The "Lawful but Awful" concept needs to be retired; anytime a weapon is drawn and used it should be looked at carefully and if need be prosecuted.
On the way to the wound doctor who should cross my path from right to left but The US Air force Thunderbirds. They were flying close enough to the ground in the their famous "Diamond" formation that I could see the distinctive Red, White, & Blue colors and the four streams of white smoke trailing them. The wound doctor is happy with progress and maybe just maybe next week will discharge me.
I've finished 90% of the user interface for my program. As an old programmer adage goes: "It takes 90% of the time to finish 90% of the project; It takes another 90% of the time to finish the last 10%." The biggest problem is unlearning the stuff that I learned 30 years ago and going with the flow on how it's done now. With a little bit of knowledge I messed up both the app and Xcode itself. But that turned out to be a good thing. Xcode 12 Beta 6 has just been released and I got to take an enforced break while I loaded it.

Adrian Tam Is on His Way to Becoming the Only Out LGBTQ Elected Official in Hawaii

Honolulu — 28-year-old Adrian Tam, running for the Hawaii state House of Representatives, is on his way to becoming the only out LGBTQ elected official in the entire state. On August 8th, Tam won the Democratic primary for District 22, defeating incumbent Tom Brower, who has represented the district since 2006. Anchorage Assembly Votes to Ban Conversion Therapy

The new law only applies to licensed medical professionals, so religious leaders can technically evade the $500 fine. But advocates say the decision marks a sign of progress in the Last Frontier State: To date, the city of some 291,000 is the only municipality in Alaska to have taken a stand against the debunked practice.
