Las Vegas — The wound nurse didn't show up yesterday, however it is to the point where I can dress the wound myself. After several days of "Blah" I woke up raring to go, at about 4:30 in the afternoon. Running late but feeling good.
Nevada state lawmakers passed a bill Sunday that would add Nevada to a growing list of states that will mail all active voters ballots ahead of the November election amid the coronavirus pandemic. Governor Steve Sisolak signed the bill on the Monday. On Tuesday the President sued Nevada.
I don't think that the President understands that most people in Nevada have a libertarian bent. This tactic may tend to backfire. The turnout could be spectacular as Nevadan flip him off in response to this attempt to target Nevada State Rights.
Luckily for us our next door neighbors in Amazon have been doing it a while and disagree with him: "He’s flat out wrong,” [Arizona Secretary of State] Katie Hobbs said of the president’s unfounded claims": “We have a long track record of successful and secure voting by mail in Arizona. Ballots are tracked when they leave the county recorder’s office to go to voters, and voters can find out the status of their ballots once they return it. So there’s a lot of safeguards in place." I suspect Arizona will have lots of suggestions.
Since it's a topsy-turvy day I'll be working on the SwiftUI course later today. The next project "VoiceOver" addresses accessibility which should be useful.

Trump Hotel Jacks Up Rates as President Floats Nomination Speech at White House

Washington — Listings for rooms at the Trump International Hotel in D.C., via Hotels.com, show rooms for one adult on the night of the address starting at $795 and running as high as $2,070. That price tag represents a massive increase from the $495 starting rate currently offered for the dates one week following and one week prior. … The price hikes come as other luxury hotels in D.C. are cutting their rates: accommodations at the Mandarin Oriental on August 27 begin at $367, while a comparable room at the Fairmont Washington will run $263. Anderson Cooper Hears About Husband's Tender Goodbye to Gay ICU Doc Who Died of COVID

Cyberspace — Out CNN anchor Anderson Cooper spoke with David Hart, the husband of an ICU doctor who died last month of COVID-19, and heard about how Hart discarded his PPE to say his goodbyes. As reported previously at EDGE, ICU head of Baltimore hospital Mercy Medical Center Dr. Joseph Costa had been caring for patients for months when he came down with the virus himself. He ended up dying in his own ward, surrounded by colleagues. Hart was there, also, and the LGBTQ media reported how when Costa died he was in his husband's arms. (More)
